I can only say that when I received my first sail (2A Assymetrical chute) I was very impressed. The materials and workmanship were superior to North's. However the performance was a whole other eye opener: I felt like I was cheating. The sail had 80% of the combined range of Norths 1A, 2A and 3A and was very fast. It could reach higher and run lower (and faster) in the intended wind ranges.
A new Bakewell-White 36, General Lee, has is due to be launched at Westhaven tomorrow. Designed for offshore racing, and Cat 1, she is owned by two West Australian sailors, Paul Eldrid, who runs Evolution Sails in Perth, and Scott Disley.
