Evolution Customers place well at Solomons Island and Screwpile Race Week!
On July 16th 120 yachts made there way down the 54 mile course for the 30th Annual Eastport YC overnight race from Annapolis to Solomons Island Maryland. The conditions were very mild, with south West winds of 8-12 knots and smooth seas. Early in the race, it paid to put a few tacks in to the west of rumb line to get the Westerly shift , the teams who did this got out to a comfortable lead. Jim Muldoons Santa cruz 72 "Donnybrook" was first to finish, followed closely by Evolution customer Mike Brennean and his team aboard "Sjambok". "Sjambok" would correct to third overall in division A0. In the J-35 One design class, Evolution customer Barry Moss and his team on "Bad Company" sailed to third overall. A special congrats goes to the crew on Kurt and Bobby Mullers Andrews 38 Pamlico who sailed to an impressive win in class PHRF A1. The Pamlico team carried their Evolution Membrane Mainsail and AP#1 the entire race, well done Pamlico!
Two days following the race to Solomons is the start of Screwpile Race Week, a three day regatta sailed on the waters of the southern Chesapeake bay... For Barry Moss and the crew aboard "Bad Company", this meant it was time to collect more silver as they sailed to a class win in the J-35 OD division! Barry took delivery of his new Evolution all carbon J-35 Class AP#1 Genoa a few weeks ago and could not be happier with his speed...well done! The racing season on the Chesapeake Bay is in full swing and the guys at Evolution Sails will be working hard to keep the fast sails moving out the door and the great results coming in!
